ABOUT THE ADVANCED TV & FILM PROGRAM

Developed to provide advanced-level instruction in the practical, technical and creative disciplines of the film and television industry, the Advanced Television and Film program (ATVF) offers students the opportunity to use some of the most sophisticated film and video technologies available, including a variety of digital capture technologies, AVID Nitris DX editing systems, and Audio ProTools HD.

 

Students also have access to quality production/post-production facilities and green screen studios, and are mentored and instructed by renowned industry professionals.  Our graduates are recognized award winners and our Program is a member of CILECT (Centre International de Liaison des Ecoles de Cinéma et de Télévision), an international consortium of the world’s major film and television schools.

THE DETAILS

The program offers a comprehensive curriculum which includes a selection of elective courses, guest lectures and open forums with acknowledged industry experts. The class of approximately 50 students is comprised of college and university graduates, international students, and professionals wishing to expand their work experiences

 

APPLYING TO ATVF

/  STUDENTS

ATVF students are required to focus on, and master, two core subjects in the areas Directing, Documentary, Screenwriting, Producing, Production and Digital Design, Cinematography, Editing, Visual Effects, or Audio Production and Post-Production. Production genres may include dramatic, documentary, transmedia, or experimental.

/  OUR APPROACH

Emphasizing a team approach to film-making and mirroring industry production practices, regulations and disciplines, the program requires all students to assume roles in their area of specialty and in support roles on several film projects throughout the year. Upon graduation, motivated students will have several demo reels or projects for their portfolios.  

We're looking for creative, organizational and technical potential as reflected in your academic, experiential, portfolio and referenced submissions. 

We receive hundreds of applications to the program.  There are only 12 - 14 seatsavailable in each of the areas of study. It's important to apply early and identify and support your choices of study though your Portfolio Submission. Tell us about yourself, your background, accomplishments and your aspirations. Have you made a film you'd like to show us, maybe you've written a story that touches the reader? Are you an organizational wizard or do you have business skills that would benefit the industry?

Applicants are welcome from a varied range of backgrounds: media, business, theatre, writing, architecture, design, animation/visual effects. International students, college/university graduates, mature students and professionals upgrading skills or changing career are all welcomed. This wide variety of experiences makes for a deeper and more challenging learning opportunity.
